Day 1: Travel to Vancouver
On our first day of the trip, arrive in Vancouver in the afternoon and check into our Hotel. After freshening up at the hotel head over to the Vancouver Aquarium. After your brief tour eat dinner in a cozy hotel in the city before attending your first evening group activity. (Evening Activities ranging from bowling, movie nights, indoor swimming etc.
Day 2: Vancouver
In the morning your group will be given a city tour of Vancouver. A local guide will lead you around the city as you visit various city attractions such as Stanley Park and Grouse Mountain. Along the way stop to engage in leadership games and creative programming with Studentkind Tour Directors. In the afternoon get on board a Whale Watching tour boat. The whale watching experience takes you to some of the most diverse wildlife on the Pacific Coast. This Whale Watching excursion lead straight into the Gulf of Georgia and beyond in search of the resident orca pods. Your Journey will last from 3 to 7 hours depending on the whales found. Dinner and an evening activity to follow.
Day 3: Srathcona Lodge
After breakfast the bus will board a Ferry to our destination of Vancouver Island. Following the 2 hr journey reach Vancouver Island and drive over to Strathcona Lodge. Adjacent to Strathcona Provincial Park, Strathcona Lodge is an outdoor adventure centre where students will participate in a variety of outdoor activities and experiences. When they arrive, students will take part in trust and communication activities and visit the Low Ropes Course under the leadership of both Studentkind, their teachers and Strathcona lodge staff. Following their introduction, students will get into canoes to paddle in safe freshwater, surrounded by old-growth forests, hiking trails, rivers and creeks. After dinner, students will participate in a variety of evening activities before heading off to their lodge rooms.
Day 4: Srathcona Lodge
On the second day at Strathcona, students will paddle in sea kayaks in protected waters and exposed coastline. The students will be amazed by how much wildlife they will see. Along the way there are various sites where ancient aboriginal artifacts were found and where Captain Cook first stepped foot in North America. After paddling to the destination students will participate in a hike to see other mature forest, alpine lakes and wildlife. After dinner, students will participate in a variety of evening activities before heading off to bed.
Day 5: Srathcona Lodge
Another full day of activities. Students will have a choice of which activities they most want to participate in. Depending on the theme of the day (experimental education, environmental awareness, leadership etc) the group can choose between a plethora of activities including high ropes, climbing, zip lining or other. An afternoon day trip to Strathcona Provincial park or into town will excite the group as well.
Day 6: Travel Back to Vancouver
Leave Strathcona lodge in the morning. Stop in the picturesque town of Tofino and see what living on the island is all about. Tofino is a perfect place to purchase something unique from Vancouver Island for your friends or Family back home. Following our stop in Tofino, head over to Victoria where your bus will board the Ferry back to Vancouver. In evening check into the hotel, enjoy a closing night dinner as a group and attend one last evening group activity.
Day 7: Travel home
Wake up early and head to the Airport to catch our flight home.
